Chris grew up in Cheltenham, attending Cheltenham Grammar School and then graduating in Biology from King's College London. He worked as a teacher in London and in Colombia, Mexico City and Kathmandu, before returning to Cheltenham to teach at Cheltenham Ladies College. He has lived locally for the past 35 years and in Leckhampton since 2020. He maintained an interest in hiking and the outdoors through most of his teaching career and was an instructor and assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

He retired early and started a walking group 9 years ago, leading a group of 10 – 20 walkers on a country walk every Saturday morning. He is active in the local community and is keen to preserve what is good about our beautiful part of the town, whilst looking for improvements where necessary.

His interests include nature, conservation and local history and he wants to represent the views of people in his area, endeavouring to achieve the best result for all concerned.
