A resident of Cheltenham for 40 years, Martin is married with three children, one a student at the University of Gloucestershire, and the others working, one living in London and the other in Cheltenham.

Now retired from a career of 41 years in the management and provision of affordable homes for local people, all but four years spent in Gloucestershire, during which he has gained a wealth of knowledge of the planning system.

Current interests & past-times include being a member of Deer Park Archers (Shurdington) shooting longbow. He recently joined Prestbury Park Model Flying Club learning to fly under instruction. Other interests include motorcycling (modern and classic) and walking. In 2022 he walked the Cares Pass in Picos de Europa, Spain.
